OPEN AUDITION AT PERISHABLE THEATRE
Perishable seeking actors for 2010/2011
Mainstage Season: It’s Women’s Work!
Providence-Perishable, RI's Research & Development Theatre, will be holding open auditions
for the 2010/2011 season on Sunday, July 25 from 12-4PM and Tuesday, July 27 from 6:30-
10:30PM at Perishable Theatre, 95 Empire Street, Downtown Providence. Under Visiting
Artistic Director Rachel Walshe, Perishable’s 2010/2011 season is a celebration of women’s
work, including the 15th International Women’s Playwriting Festival and the New England
premiere of Carson Kreitzer’s 1:23. 1:23 is a national co-production with Chicago’s Rivendell
Theatre Ensemble and will perform both in Providence and Chicago. Auditions are being held by
appointment only.

Actors ranging in age from 16-60 are encouraged to attend. Actors of color are
particularly encouraged to audition. Perishable is casting for:
The 15th International Women’s Playwriting Festival
October 1-23, 2010
Three one-act world premiere plays written by winners of Perishable’s international
competition. Roles include: three high school students, modern soldiers (1 female and 1 male)
and three women who work in an office but aspire to other things.

April 15-June 22
1:23 documents the sensational trials of Susan Smith and Andrea Yates, two mothers convicted
of murdering their children. A collage of court testimonies, media mayhem, urban legend and
police records, 1:23 explodes traditional notions of motherhood.

Please prepare a contemporary monologue, 2-3 minutes in length.
Bring a headshot and resume if available. Callbacks will be scheduled for a later date.
Actors who are cast receive an honorarium.

Both Union and Non-union Actors are welcome to audition.
