New late-night programming at Perishable Theatre

TRUE STORIES FROM REAL PEOPLE
Friday July 18 at 10pm All seats $5
at Perishable Theatre 95 Empire Street Providence RI 02903
Everyone has a story to tell. Come to LIVE BAIT and tell yours and/or watch others tell theirs. Put your name into the hat and when you are picked, you’ll have five minutes to tell a story loosely based on our weekly theme. No script, no notes, no stand-up comedy (although you can be funny), no rants. Inspired by NPR's This American Life and NYC's The Moth, we’re looking for your true-life stories.
This week’s theme is MONEY. How you get it, why you need it, what you do with it. If you have a fascinating, but true, story that is related to money in any way, here’s what to do: Practice it (at least once). Know your story well and don’t forget the details. Come to the show, put your name in the hat and tell your story like you’re telling your friends after two beers. (Please respect the 5 minute limit. There will be a gentle, but firm, warning whistle.) Sit down to thunderous applause, then cheer on the next storyteller.
Professional performers are welcome but we encourage the non-performer to step up. Everybody has a story and everybody is welcome to play or to watch this fine evening of Funny, Heart-Wrenching, Scary, Enlightening, Amusing, Soul-Baring Real-Life Stories.
LIVE BAIT is hosted by Phil Goldman.
Phil Goldman has been, among other things, an improvisational actor, a jungle guide in Thailand, a Tai Chi instructor, and was almost a male stripper in Tokyo (too hairy). His particular life choices have left him with no money, but a lot of stories to tell.
